Hey Rafael, I’d say yes, Medium is totally a suitable place to build an audience. As far as the difficulties I encountered with my first novel, there were plenty. No one knew who I was, I was self-publishing, I had no idea what I was doing; so many obstacles. What I instinctively knew would be important, however, was the way I treated each reader. Anyone who responded to my blog posts or who actually read my novel, I treated them like gold. Once I realized how hard it was to get just one fan, it made me appreciate any amount of success. Word of mouth still matters a lot, even with all the technology we’re spoiled with.
