I agree with you, Pauline. I’m very aware that as a Black girl, my daughter’s feeling of love towards herself will be challenged in ways (and already has been challenged) that she will need to withstand. I make sure that she knows what it means to be loved and what it feels like to be made a priority. I’m not sure how her life will go, but I’m sure she knows those feelings.
