I’ve seen this before — Part 1

I didn’t need to close my eyes to picture this.

I knew.

As surely as I’m writing this piece is as certain as I knew that I would be here. So when it took me six years to write my first book, I didn’t feel pressure. I had a lifetime of thoughts I was trying to gather, trying to organize, trying to communicate. I needed every day of those six years.

When only a dozen people showed up to my book launch, I didn’t worry. I was still learning, still building my audience, still trying to understand what it would take.

When I did close my eyes, I imagined these moments. I imagined my words being read by thousands of readers. I imagined my next book being published. I saw hundreds of people at my book launch.

My eyes are open now. My imagination has moved on after creating those realities. And every time one of those dreams became real, I trusted myself a little bit more, then a little bit more; and now I know. I know because I’ve seen this before.

So what am I seeing now?
