Omg I do the same thing!! In both of my books, I never mention race at all. It’s all about interaction and my characters living their lives. It’s so strange the expectations that come when you’re a “black” writer instead of just being a writer. But you’re spot on when you say allude to the fact that our culture is what it is and there doesn’t have to be these blatant signifying markers. Thanks so much for your comments ☺
